Pitch Side: A Free Coaching Companion for Grassroots Football

The Problem

Grassroots football runs on volunteers. Parents, teachers, and community members who give up their evenings and Saturday mornings to coach kids. They're not professional coaches with sports science degrees and access to elite analysis platforms. They're people who love the game and want to give kids a good experience.

But when it comes to tools, these coaches are left with nothing. The coaching apps that exist are built for professional setups with professional price tags. The free options are ad-riddled, half-finished, or require an internet connection that doesn't exist at most local pitches.

Why We Built It

Pitch Side exists because grassroots coaches already give enough. They give their time, their energy, and often their own money for kit and equipment. The last thing they need is another subscription fee for a tool that should be basic.

We built Pitch Side to be the app we wished existed when we were coaching. Something that doesn't require an account, doesn't track you, and doesn't cost a penny. No catch, no upsell, no "free tier with limitations." Just a genuinely useful tool for people who deserve one.

What It Does

Pitch Side packs everything a grassroots coach needs into a single web app:

• 75+ pre-built drills — Covering passing, shooting, dribbling, and defending. Each drill has clear instructions, diagrams, and suggested timing. You can also create your own custom drills.
• Formation builder — Visual pitch layout supporting 5v5, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 formats. Drag players into position and see your formation come together.
• Match day tools — Lineup selection, substitution planning, and printable team sheets. Walk onto the pitch prepared, not scrambling.
• Season analytics — Attendance tracking, drill usage statistics, and training frequency insights. See who's showing up and what you've been working on.

Privacy First

Two things mattered more than anything else when building Pitch Side:

No accounts, no tracking. You don't need to create an account or hand over an email address. There's no analytics, no ad tracking, and no data collection. We built it for coaches, not for harvesting user data.

Your data stays secure. Pitch Side uses Firebase to store your data securely in the cloud, which means it syncs across your devices and you won't lose everything if you switch phones. No personal data is shared with third parties or used for marketing. For an app that stores squad details, we think that matters.
